EYE SEE FUN

Eye See Fun is a quirky and cute adventure game.
Players control a single eyeball that interacts with objects, solves puzzles, and explores new worlds. On the journey, this eye meets many strange characters and helps them fulfill their wishes.
The game encourages players to use their imagination and think in unconventional ways. It breaks normal logic to create unique puzzles. A full playthrough takes about half an hour.

Status & Recognition

This indie game was released in March 2024.
Even without any advertising, Eye See Fun has been added to the Steam libraries of more than 20,000 players and has received many positive comments.

My Role


I independently designed all of the puzzles, visual art, and all animations for the game, and also created the sound effects.
Two programmers collaborated with me on the core game code, and one composer wrote five original music tracks exclusively for this project.

Game Guide

Scene 1 – The Code of the Eye

The main objective of this scene is to collect enough eyelashes for the eye to open the gate and move on to the next area.

The player’s first task is to obtain a scythe. Once the eye has the scythe, the slimes will stop attacking and will move away from the eye. The scythe can also be used to cut the grass and flowers in the scene.

The eye currently has no eyelashes, while the gate to the next area is clearly decorated with eyelashes. This hints that the player must “give the eye eyelashes” in order to pass through.

Walkthrough:
Step 1: Obtain the scythe.
Step 2: Use the scythe to defeat a slime.
Step 3: Use the scythe to cut a blade of grass.
Step 4: Take the grass to the tentacle pond and dye it black.
Step 5: Dip the blackened grass into the slime’s body so it becomes sticky. At this point, the eye gains one eyelash.
Step 6: Repeat this process until the eye has collected five eyelashes. Then the player can open the gate and proceed to the next scene.

Scene 2 – Making Friends with the Nose Dog

In this scene, the player can obtain a backpack that allows the eye to carry more items. The player can also find the key to the safe (treasure chest) from Scene 1, which will be important for later exploration.

A special enemy appears here: the Nose Dog, a creature that looks like a giant nose. It is very sensitive to the scent of flowers. When the eye approaches it while carrying flowers, the Nose Dog feels pleased and stays calm. If the eye approaches without flowers, it will actively attack.

Walkthrough:
Step 1: Get the backpack. Shake the tree and the backpack will fall from a branch so the player can pick it up.
Step 2: Get the key. Use the scythe to cut the glowing patch of grass behind the Nose Dog. Doing so gives the player the key to the treasure chest in Scene 1.
Step 3: Return to Scene 1. Use the door in this area to go back to the first scene and open the chest with the key. Inside the chest, the player receives a swimsuit. Once the swimsuit is equipped, the eye can jump into the water from the pool.

Important tip:
The door in this scene still requires eyelashes to open. It is recommended to unlock the door as soon as the player enters Scene 2. The eyelashes will fall off automatically after a certain amount of time, so if the door is not opened in advance, the player will have to repeat the eyelash-collecting process from Scene 1 when going back.

Scene 3 – Underwater Tunnel

This scene serves as the game’s central transportation hub, connecting the player to different areas through four colored underwater pipes. Each pipe’s color matches the dominant background color of the scene it leads to:

The green pipe leads to Scene 1.
The orange pipe leads to Scene 2.
The pink pipe leads to Scene 4 (Flower Field).
The yellow pipe leads to Scene 5 (Desert).

The player must first obtain a shovel. The shovel can be used to dig the soil at the bottom of the scene. In one specific hole, the player finds a key that is used to open the chest in this underwater area.

Inside the chest is a special item: a collar. This is a key item designed with a high degree of freedom and it has multiple uses throughout the game.

Using the collar in this scene:
The player can use the collar to lasso a fish (pink or yellow). If the player catches a pink fish, it will swim toward the pink pipe and drag the eye through the pipe. If the player catches a yellow fish instead, it will guide the eye into the yellow pipe.

Once the fish breaks through the seaweed, the eye can enter the pipe and unlock access to new areas of the map. After completing this scene, the player can freely travel between the unlocked areas, and the game shifts from a linear, guided experience to a more open structure where the player chooses their own exploration order.

Scene 4 – Flower Field

This scene is dominated by pink tones. The overall atmosphere is warm and dreamy, with blooming flowers and lush green grass. It feels romantic, but there is also a slightly uncanny mood. In this seemingly peaceful garden, there is a special character: a giant mouth that keeps making strange, unintelligible sounds. Everything in this area — the flowers, the grass, the trees and the watering can — belongs to this mouth. Before the player builds a relationship with it, they cannot interact with these objects.

When the player talks to the mouth, it says two lines:
“I’m so hungry.”
“Can you help me find my dog?”

These lines suggest that the player must complete two objectives to gradually earn the mouth’s trust.

Quest 1: Feeding the Mouth
Although the flowers are in full bloom, there is nothing edible in this scene. The player therefore has to go to the fruit trees in Scene 1 or Scene 2, pick a piece of fruit, bring it back and feed it to the mouth.

After eating the fruit, the mouth responds:
“Delicious!”
“Help me plant a tree, and we’ll be friends.”

It then spits out a seed, implying that the player should plant a fruit tree for it in this garden.

Quest 2: The Nose Dog and the bone clue
The mouth’s second wish is to get its dog back. Based on earlier gameplay, the player will think of the Nose Dog in Scene 2. When the player returns to Scene 2 and clicks on the Nose Dog, a bone icon appears as a hint. This suggests that the dog needs a bone as a clue or lure.

However, in the areas unlocked so far, the player has not yet obtained any bone item. At this stage, the player can only fulfill the mouth’s first wish (feeding it and planting the tree), but cannot yet complete the second wish (finding the dog).

Even though part of the mouth’s request has been met, it still does not fully accept the eye. The player still cannot freely use all items in the flower field. To push the story forward, the player needs to leave this scene and explore other areas for new clues so that they can eventually complete the mouth’s second request.

Scene 5– Desert

This scene is dominated by yellow tones. The dry trees and the music suggest that this is a desert. There are two suns in the sky; it is hot and dry, and no water has flowed here for many years. Two ears stand in the sand, sweating. They do not need water, but they love different kinds of sounds, such as the sound of flowing water or buzzing bees.

The arrival of the eye changes the environment and will eventually bring water and new sounds to the desert. In this scene, the player needs to help the two ears improve the harsh desert environment.

Quest flow:
First, the player can interact with a rock. There is a glowing spot behind it. When the player clicks the rock, a hint appears that says the ears can help push the rock, but they are too hot and cannot move yet.

When the player talks to the ears, an image hint appears that shows they want one of the suns to disappear. Clicking on a sun shows the collar icon. The player can use the collar to lasso one sun and carry it away from the desert. However, no matter which scene the sun is taken to, it always returns to its original place, so the problem is not truly solved.

In the desert, there are several holes similar to the ones in the Underwater Tunnel. Using the shovel to dig in one of these holes lets the player obtain a bone. After digging, clicking on the hole shows a hint that a flower needs to be planted inside. Flowers can be transplanted from other scenes using the shovel. Once a flower has been planted in the desert hole, another hint appears, showing that the flower needs water.

If the player clicks on the dry tree, the eye shows a cloud-and-rain icon. This means that rain needs to be brought in from another scene. Back in Scene 1, there are many rain clouds. When the player clicks on a raining cloud, the collar icon appears again, indicating that the collar can be used to catch the cloud and bring it to the desert.

With the rain cloud, the withered tree grows new leaves. Clicking the tree now triggers a new hint: a beehive needs to be hung on its branches.

Later, the player can return with a lily and a beehive from the flower field. With the lily and the beehive, bees appear in the desert, and the overall environment improves a lot compared to before. Once the ears’ wish has been fulfilled, they help the eye push away the huge rock. A key is hidden underneath. With this key, the player can open the treasure chest in the swamp.

If the player clicks on the ears again after obtaining the key, an image hint appears that shows a magic seed needs to be planted somewhere in the desert.

After leading the dog to the flower field, a message appears: “You helped me find my Nose Dog! Thank you!”

Once the dog has been brought over, the Mouth makes another request: “Help me plant a tree, and we’ll be friends.” It wants the eye to plant a tree for it in this garden. At this point, it finally allows the player to use the objects in the scene.

To plant the tree, the player first needs to dig a hole in an empty spot in the garden. Then they place the seed from the backpack into the hole and use the watering can to water it. In this way, a fruit tree appears in the flower field.

To thank the eye, the Mouth gives the watering can to the eye. Now it considers the eye its best friend!

In their conversation, the Mouth reveals an important secret: “Heard those tentacles can take you to a secret cave.”
So the player now needs to go to Scene 1 or Scene 2 to investigate the tentacles.

Secret Swamp and Ending

After the mouth in the flower field becomes friends with the eye, it shares an important secret:
“Heard those tentacles can take you to a secret cave.”

The player can now return to Scene 1 or Scene 2 and investigate the tentacles. When the player clicks on a tentacle, the collar icon appears. Using the collar on a tentacle allows it to drag the eye into a mysterious swamp.

If the player carries the desert sun and jumps into the mud pit, they can also follow the sunlight down into the same swamp. The sun’s light illuminates this hidden area. In the swamp, the player can see four tentacles, a mysterious treasure chest, and a strange wooden stump that looks like an altar. One of the tentacles moves around the chest and blocks the eye from opening it. At this moment, the eye has no key yet, so the player needs to return to the desert and see what has changed there after removing the sun.

Once the player has improved the desert, helped the ears, and obtained the key under the rock, they can return to the swamp. The eye discovers that the altar requires an offering. The player can place any simple item on the altar, such as a piece of fruit, a blade of grass, or a flower. After the offering is made, the tentacle is drawn to the object on the altar, and the player can use the key to open the chest.

Back in the swamp, the player discovers that one of the tentacles is blocking the eye from opening the chest. The eye walks over to the stump that looks like an altar and realizes that an offering is needed there.
The player can place any item on this altar, such as a piece of fruit, a blade of grass, or a flower. After the offering is made, the tentacle is drawn to the object on the altar, and the player can use the key to open the chest.

Inside the chest is a magic seed. The player can go to the flower field or the desert to plant this magic seed. It grows into a large tree, and the eye’s first journey comes to an end. At the top of this journey, the eye finally finds its other eye.
